Yountmill Vineyards: Sauvignon Blanc and SemillonYountville Cross Road, Yountville
Planted in 1980 to UC Davis clones and organically farmed. The Semillon is head trained while the Sauvignon Blanc is cane pruned with a split canopy. The soils are bale loam series.
Bella Vista: ChardonnayCalistoga, off Petrified Forest Road near Sonoma County line
An east facing vineyard at 1,200 foot elevation. Planted in volcanic Aiken soil series to a Murphy-Goode clone (probably clone 4) in the mid 1980s. Cane pruned with a split canopy. Produces fruit with pronounced citrus and tropical fruit flavors.
Carneros Lake-Beckstoffer: Chardonnay and Pinot NoirCarneros, Las Amigas and Cuttings Wharf Roads
A blend of Dijon Clones (Pinot 113,114; Chard 95 and 96) planted in modern spacing with VSP or Vertical Shoot Position trellising. This is very much a cool climate area where fog from the bay slows maturation – ideal for these early ripening varieties.
Cali 351 Calistoga Vineyard: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and MerlotCalistoga at 400 Silverado Trail. 8 acres of vineyard was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot in 1998 and 2000.
Farmed traditionally and converted to organic farming practices in 2006. There are 3 clones of Cabernet Sauvignon (337, 7 and 4), about an acre of Cabernet Franc and just a quarter acre of Merlot. These small blocks provide the blending components for our Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is mainly clay loam, becoming more volcanic closer to the mountains to the east.
Luvisi Vineyards: Old Vine ZinfandelAdjacent to our estate in Silverado Trail, Calistoga.
This vineyard was planted more than 90 years ago. The gnarled vines produce a limited amount of fruit that is very distinctive and unique to the place. The predominant component of our delicious 2007 Old Faithful red blend.
